Canada Sets New Immigration Record In 2022

Canada Sets New Immigration Record In 2022

This year, Canada Immigration accepted many immigrants and broke all previous records, exceeding the target of 431,645 new permanent residents set for 2021. Canada has never experienced such a large influx of immigrants in a single year.

Canada last accepted as many immigrants in 1913, when it received more than 400,000 newcomers, and will break that record in 2021.

According to the government’s 2023-2025 Immigration Levels Plan, objectives will rise each year for the following three years, keeping with its plans to settle more immigrants to help address labour shortages in several industries. The revised targets are to bring in 465,000 new permanent residents this year, 485,000 in 2024, and 500,000 in 2025 as part of its post-COVID-19 recovery strategy.

In 2022, IRCC handled around 5.2 million citizenship, temporary residency, and permanent residence applications. In 2021, the number of applications handled more than doubled.

The IRCC credits greater resources, new technology, quicker processing, and the introduction of more online procedures with the rise in both the number of applications processed and admissions.

These important improvements to the Canada Immigration system will benefit Canadians in the long run. As the Canadian government focuses on addressing the acute labour market shortages the country is currently experiencing and building a strong economy for the future, immigration is an essential part of the solution. Filling labour shortages, adding fresh ideas and abilities to our communities, and enhancing Canadian society depend on newcomers.

Canada’s admission objectives are outlined in the annual Canada Immigration Levels Plan. The admissions targets for the 2022 plan were the highest ever before the release of the 2023–2025 plan. The news broke in February 2022.

To boost its population, Canada has recently worked to welcome more immigrants. According to the immigration census of 2021, 1.3 million new permanent residents arrived in Canada between 2016 and 2021. In other words, one in every four respondents was or had been a landed immigrant or permanent resident in Canada, the most significant proportion since Confederation and the highest proportion among G7 nations. Immigrants will make up approximately 36% of Canada’s population by 2036.

The immigration levels plan 2023–2025, presented in November 2022, has a goal of 500,000 new permanent residents per year, which is even more ambitious. In 2023, a target of 465,000 is set.

The government claims that immigration is entirely blamed for Canada’s growing labour force. Approximately 75% of Canada’s population growth is attributable to immigration, primarily in the economic sector.

According to the government, immigrants will make up 30% of Canada’s population by 2036, up from 20.7% in 2011.

IRCC minister stated on November 1, 2022, by 2025, the federal government hopes to see 500,000 people arrive in Canada each year.” government anticipates a rise in Canada Immigration that will bring in 465,000 immigrants in 2023 and 500,000 in 2025, with a strong focus on admitting people based on their employment qualifications or experience.

How do I immigrate to Canada?

IRCC has an online tool called Come to Canada. It assists foreign nationals in determining whether they would be qualified to seek status as immigrants, tourists, workers, or students in Canada. This tool will guide you through questions about your personal and professional past. It then gives you advice based on your responses and the circumstances, a list of choices and detailed instructions for applying.

The Come to Canada tool should only be used as a guide. Your responses won’t be used to make an immigration decision. If you decide to apply, an immigration officer will evaluate your application under Canadian immigration law. Your tool results won’t affect their choice in any way.
